Bondi Sculpture By The Sea
Bondi carving

Amstel invited Art of Ice Sculptures to create a live ice sculpture for their Amstel Sea Bar during the Bondi Sculpture By The Sea in November 2007. The Amstel Sea Bar had a live 3-piece jazz band and a live oyster-shucker as well as a bar sculpted out of 1000 Amstel beer bottles. And to top it off, Art of Ice Sculptures sculpted live.

Amstel Beer Bottle

Patrons were invited to guess what the sculpure would be when they saw the starting block of crystal clear ice placed on the carving platform. It measured 1m high and 25cm x 25cm wide. Some guessed the Eiffel Tower, others thought ???. One wit even suggested it would be an iceberg.

Once the chainsaw started up and snow started spraying, all eyes were on the ice as it slowly took shape. Chainsaw, chisels, die grinder, even a bag of hot water were all skillfully applied to the ice to bring out the shape... the shape of an Amstel Beer Bottle!
